The People for Successful COrean REunification [PSCORE], a non-religious and non-partisan NGO advocating for the rights of North Koreans, is hosting a poetry contest for North Korean human rights.
Submissions must be completed in the form of a quantrain–a stanza of four lines–based terms stipulated in the contest’s rules. A list of these terms is provided on the PSCORE site.
For example, if the acronym NKHR (North Korean Human Rights) is selected, the author would form four sentences, beginning each with the letters of the acronym,in the same sequence, to complete the poem.
Although the contest will consist of two divisions–youth and adult– it will be open to people of all ages and backgrounds. From students still in grade school to adults, Koreans to foreigners, everyone is welcome to partake in this event to help raise awareness on the human rights violations taking place in North Korea.
Submissions will be judged by passion for the improvement of the human rights conditions in North Korea and a strong desire for unification.
The grand prize for each division is an iPad mini 2, with gift certificates, book sets, and other prizes available to second and third-place winners.
Interested applicants may enter submissions until December 10th. Contest results will be released on December 16th followed by an awards ceremony on December 20th.
Applications will be accepted in a number of ways, including FaceBook, the PSCORE website, e-mail, and Kakao Talk.
